If you are a legitimate candidate (as Mr Gravel is) you should be allowed to debate. Second thought, if your running period you should be allowed to debate.

Here is my take on the whole media. They are trying (and may be succeeding) in picking the candidates who they want to see run in the national elections. The media, in my opinion, have too much control in who gets to debate, the format, etc. Who gets all the press? The people who have more name recognition. If the media maybe gave all the candidates equal time, maybe we won't keep getting the same ol same ol every election cycle.

That's true. The media has too much power. I think things have changed though. Because of the internet, more people are being informed about the candidates without as much media influence. I know I was. I saw Mike Gravel on one of the debates and thought "Who is this old fart?" Then I got online and researched him and found that he is a great candidate and I support him 100%.
I also believe it helps that the country is in such a bad shape right now. More people will be turning out for this election.
