A great champion of Gun owners rights has passed away. That person is Charlton Heston.

The second ammendment was institued as a control for the government by the people. The politicians of today care very little about the rights of citizens to bear arms other than an unarmed citizen is a lot easier to control. I have an entire list of contries that had their fire arms taken away, and it has only lead to disaster. Look at Australia, they just banned firearms in the country, and the crime rate has SKY ROCKETED. We need fire arms in this country, weather it is a deterent to criminals on the streets, or criminals in Washington D.C. The fire arms are what give the people of this nation, power over it. with out our firearms, we are merely subjects, bowing to the will of a tyranical governement. I personally am a Concealed weapons permit holder, and I will NEVER relinquish my firearm. An extensive background check already exsists for all legal fire arm purchases. Even if you make a straw purchase for someone else as a gift, they are required to get a background check, and if they do not recieve one then they own that fire arm illegally. There should be no quarrel with law abiding citizens owning a fully automatic weapon. If you have ever fired one, you should know how exciting shooting one is, but that is a little off subject. I as a law abiding citizen am not inclined to use my fier arm to commit a crime, whereas a criminal with any firearm is more inclined to commit a crime, and if you take the right of the people to carry certain types of firearms like D.C. has done with their rediculous Handgun ban, then you take the right of a citizen to defend themselves away.

I agree 100%. As long as that background check is in place, we should have no problems with law-abiding, gun-owning citizens.

Right now, if you make a purchase of a Fire Arm and a background check is not performed, then that is an illegal purchase, and you are now a criminal, and the place that you bought the fire arm from needs to be prosecuted as well.

Supreme court in a 5-4 ruling strikes down Washington DC's gun ban law. The vote broke down liberal -conservative lines. Now we see why we don't want the obamessiah as president because he could very well be apponting another liberal "let's legislate from the bench" judge.
