Since this seems to be a "hot" political topic what do you think? I believe it's more fiction than fact. The Earth has undergone many climate changes in its short history. Climate is more cyclical than man "made".

I thought I should move this to the "Issues" board.
I do believe that the Earth goes through those cyclic changes you mentioned. But I also believe we have contributed to the environment. You can't deny that when you look at carbon levels and all that other crap. And doesn't it just seem obvious when you look around to see all the pollution we cause?
So I'm for getting off of our dependence on oil. The technology is there for better and cheaper fuel sources. We just need a leader, who isn't making so much money from that oil, to get the ball rolling.
And something that contributes is finance for technology. We need to be sure that an ample supply of money is going towards improving the already amazing technology that's out there and making it more beneficial for a country of citizens and not for a country of corporate mongueurs.

I agree that we have the technology to rid ourselves of foreign oil dependency. (I say drill in Anwar) And just how much money is our current leader making off of oil? Is it another "Haliburton Conspiracy"? I just don't buy into the "Owl" Gore theory of Global Warming.

Yeah the earth is warming up. Whoopedie doo. And to say that people are causing it is indeed true. Because the majority of us eat meat. And what does meat come from mostly? Right. Soy beans. And what harvests soybeans? Tractors. And what makes tractors? People...oh wait...I chased the wrong rabbit...doggint...

The Earth is currently coming out of it's mini Ice Age which started several centuries ago. Where some ice has melted they have found ancient villages and mines.

Actually, the Greek island of Santorini has been called the most likely spot for Atlantis. But I just know that because I just watched a National Geographic program. ;D

From Drudge:
Climate Change: Did NASA scientist James Hansen, the global warming alarmist in chief, once believe we were headed for . . . an ice age? An old Washington Post story indicates he did.
Related Topics: Global Warming
On July 9, 1971, the Post published a story headlined "U.S. Scientist Sees New Ice Age Coming." It told of a prediction by NASA and Columbia University scientist S.I. Rasool. The culprit: man's use of fossil fuels.
The Post reported that Rasool, writing in Science, argued that in "the next 50 years" fine dust that humans discharge into the atmosphere by burning fossil fuel will screen out so much of the sun's rays that the Earth's average temperature could fall by six degrees.
Sustained emissions over five to 10 years, Rasool claimed, "could be sufficient to trigger an ice age."
Aiding Rasool's research, the Post reported, was a "computer program developed by Dr. James Hansen," who was, according to his resume, a Columbia University research associate at the time.

Hey, the Goracle won the Nobel Peace prize for his Global Warming fiction. The nine scientific errors not withstanding. Can't remember them all but one mentioned polar bears drowning because of global warming when they actually drowned due to a storm. It was also asserted that Greenland's ice would melt and cause the seas to rise 20 feet in the near future when actually it would take a few millenia. Good to see that the Nobel committee is above politics-NOT.
