Ha! Silly Jeff. At least I have support from 2 Jeffs. I was asked this recently by a friend and I had a one word answer: whatever. Like with abortion: it's something that will never be resolved unless God comes down and tells us what to do. So I'm for it.

Sorry Ben. Have to leave you to the wolves on this one.... "For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due." —Romans 1:26-27
"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God." —1 Corinthians 6:9-10
"Knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine," —1 Timothy 1:9-10

Hmmmm...what to say, what to say... I'm a firm believer in the separation of church and state. That's why I believe we should keep the death penalty too. That goes against God as the true judge. But we as humans take on many roles that have been traditionally reserved for God. (I think, maybe it's just a few ) So I think in a free country, people can do what they want as long as it causes no harm to other people. If they do something wrong in the eyes of God, let him deal with them in the afterlife. To be perfectly honest, I'm completely against the government involved in marriage, period. I believe that the love and commitment shared by two people is between them and them alone (and maybe God). To let the government get their greedy little hands involved with the subject of love is silly. But since so much revolves around people being married (insurance, inheritance, etc) it would be hard to work out not being involved.

I support gay marriage if both chicks are hot. (Not really). It was Adam and Eve not Steve and Adam.

If someone wants to talk about the Bible in this context, they should be comfortable reading up about some of the other parts of the Bible. That's all I'm saying. Take a look over the full article behind that link.
Regardless, I don't think that government should be involved in a religious institution. Marriage should be a religious institution. The destruction of marriage has come from it being politically defined instead of defined in the church (or temple, or what have you).
Nowadays folks get married for the legal benefits. The perks. There is no-fault divorce (ask Giuliani). It isn't about children. (Otherwise, what about infertile couples, post-menopausal women, or folks that just don't want to have kids.)
I'm engaged. To a woman. Our marriage can and will mean something. We haven't been married yet partially because of the government screwing up our finances if we do get married.
Back to the point: keep the government out of marriage entirely and leave it as a religious institution to be handled by clergy and doctrine.

Back to the point: keep the government out of marriage entirely and leave it as a religious institution to be handled by clergy and doctrine. I agree. But I think it would be a difficult thing to tackle given all the "legal" dealings that come with a marriage. I'm not saying it isn't possible, but it'll be difficult. We'd have to work out how to deal with all those things in other ways. Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's just insurance and beneficiary and kids. What else is there?

If you're going to post something at least make sure it makes sense.
From the link posted above:
Tell me how those two are saying at all what the website is saying they say.
Genesis 2:24 " For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh."
Ruth 1:14 "And they lifted up their voices and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her."
